Star Teak Brightener is the “magic wand” of deck maintenance. Over time, UV exposure and salt cause the lignin in the wood to oxidize, turning the teak a depressing charcoal gray. This brightener chemically reverses that oxidation.
When applied to a wet, cleaned deck, the solution opens the wood fibers and draws out the deep-seated grayness. 🔹 The 3-Step Cycle Application
Pre-Clean: Use Star Teak Concentrated Cleaner first to remove grease and dirt. Rinse well, but keep the wood wet.
Apply: While the deck is still damp, apply Star Teak Brightener evenly using a sponge or soft brush.
Dwell: Allow the product to sit for 3–5 minutes. You will see the wood change color almost instantly.
Agitate: Lightly brush across the grain (perpendicular to the wood lines) to ensure the brightener reaches deep into the texture.
Rinse: Flush the deck with massive amounts of fresh water until the runoff is clear.
Dry: Allow the wood to dry completely (usually 24 hours) before applying Star Teak UV Protector.
👉 Pro Tip: In the nautical sector, never skip the brightener step. If you apply oil to teak that has only been cleaned but not brightened, the oil will trap the “gray” underneath, resulting in a muddy, dark, and unattractive finish.
