HS-200 Fumed Silica is an ultra-fine, high-surface-area silica powder used as a universal thixotropic agent. This 10kg industrial format is designed for large-scale production, shipyards, and professional workshops.

When added to liquid polyester, epoxy, or vinylester resins, HS-200 creates a sophisticated rheological structure. This allows the resin to remain fluid while being stirred or applied (shear-thinning) but “lock” into place once the movement stops, preventing drips and sagging on vertical or overhead surfaces. It also acts as a powerful anti-settling agent for pigments and fillers, ensuring a homogeneous mixture throughout the curing process.

🔹 Application Instructions

  1. Safety First: This powder is extremely light and volatile. Always wear a dust mask (P2/P3) and work in a draft-free area.

  2. Mix your resin and catalyst/hardener first.

  3. Gradually add HS-200 while stirring slowly to avoid creating a dust cloud.

  4. Recommended Dosage:Anti-settling/Slight thickening: 0.5% – 1.0% by weight.

    • Thixotropic/Non-sag: 2.0% – 3.0% by weight.

    • Structural Adhesives: Up to 5% or more until the desired “peanut butter” consistency is reached.

👉 Pro Tip: For a superior fairing compound, combine HS-200 with Microcel (Glass Microballoons). The silica provides the anti-sag properties, while the microballoons make the mixture lightweight and easy to sand.
