Star Teak Concentrated Cleaner
Professional Star Teak Concentrated Cleaner in a 1 L format. A high-potency alkaline detergent specifically designed for the deep cleaning of marine teak decks. It removes stubborn salt crust, grease, fuel stains, and gray oxidation, restoring the wood’s natural warmth and preparing it for brightening or oiling treatments.
Star Teak Concentrated Cleaner is a heavy-duty “renovator” rather than a simple maintenance soap. When teak is left untreated, it develops a silver-gray patina that traps mold spores and airborne pollutants. This concentrated formula breaks the chemical bond between the grime and the wood fibers, lifting the “gray” out to reveal the golden timber underneath.
Its alkaline nature makes it exceptionally effective at dissolving organic buildup (algae and mold) and petrochemical stains (diesel soot and hydraulic oils). Because it is a concentrate, it offers excellent value—allowing you to adjust the strength based on whether you are performing a light seasonal refresh or a heavy-term restoration. It is the essential “Step 1” of the classic teak maintenance cycle, ensuring the wood is surgically clean before applying brighteners or protective oils.
✔ Deep-Action Alkalinity → Chemically dissolves stubborn grease, oil, and salt deposits.
✔ Restoration Power → Strips away the weathered gray layer to reveal the natural wood color.
✔ High-Yield Concentrate → Can be diluted with water to suit the severity of the dirt.
✔ Grain Enhancement → Cleans deep into the wood’s texture without damaging the structural fibers.
✔ Multi-Surface Utility → Safe and effective for general heavy-duty cleaning of other onboard surfaces.
✔ Professional Prep → The ideal foundation for subsequent brightening or sealing treatments.
Brand: Star Teak
Format: 1 Liter Bottle
Type: Concentrated Alkaline Detergent
Application: Teak decks, swimming platforms, and exotic wood trim
Action: Degreasing, descaling, and color restoration
Dilution: Required (varies by application)
🔹 Application Instructions
Dilution: Mix the product with fresh water. Use a 1:5 to 1:10 ratio for heavy restoration, or 1:20 for routine cleaning.
Wet the Wood: Always pre-soak the teak with fresh water before applying the cleaner.
Apply: Spread the diluted solution over the deck using a sponge or a soft brush.
Agitate: Use a medium-soft deck brush. Scrub across the grain (perpendicular to the wood lines) to avoid tearing out the soft fibers of the wood.
Dwell: Let it sit for 3–5 minutes. Do not let it dry on the surface.
Rinse: Flush thoroughly with fresh water until all suds and lifted grime are gone.
👉 Pro Tip: In the nautical sector, always follow this cleaner with a Teak Brightener (acid-based Step 2) if you want that “newly sanded” golden look. The alkaline cleaner opens the pores, and the brightener neutralizes the pH, perfectly prepping the wood for a final coat of protective oil.
Teak Decking: Deep cleaning of main decks, cockpit floors, and swim platforms.
Marine Hardwoods: Restoring Iroko, Mahogany, or Oak trim and gangways.
Heavy Degreasing: Removing fuel and oil spills from deck surfaces.
Outdoor Maintenance: Cleaning high-end teak garden furniture and wooden terraces.
1 L Bottle: The professional standard for maintaining medium-to-large vessels.
Teak surfaces that are deep-cleaned, free of grease and salt, and restored to their healthy, natural appearance, ready for long-term protection.
