Epoxy Impregnating & Anti-Osmosis
High-performance Epoxy Impregnating & Anti-Osmosis Two-Component (A+B) designed for deep impregnation and anti-osmosis treatment. Formulated with cycloaliphatic amines, this solvent-free resin penetrates deep into wood and fiberglass (GRP) to create a permanent, flexible, and waterproof barrier against seawater and humidity.

Description

🚀 Epoxy Impregnating & Anti-Osmosis

The Epoxy Impregnating & Anti-Osmosis Kit is a professional-grade solution for the structural preservation of boats. Unlike standard coatings, this system uses a low-viscosity, solvent-free epoxy that “wicks” into the microscopic pores of the substrate.

On Fiberglass (GRP), it acts as a decisive anti-osmosis barrier, sealing the gelcoat and laminate to prevent the water-molecule migration that causes osmotic blistering. On Wood, it acts as a consolidant, saturating the fibers to eliminate the possibility of rot while maintaining enough flexibility to move with the natural expansion of the hull. The use of cycloaliphatic amine hardeners ensures excellent resistance to “blushing” (carbonation) and provides superior mechanical strength even in high-humidity shipyard environments.

⭐ Professional Performance

  • Solvent-Free Formula → 100% solids content means no shrinkage and no dangerous fumes during curing.

  • Deep Micro-Penetration → High capillary action to saturate wood grain and fiberglass fibers.

  • Cycloaliphatic Technology → Superior resistance to yellowing, chemicals, and salt-spray.

  • Permanent Vapor Barrier → The ultimate defense against osmotic pressure in GRP hulls.

  • Structural Flexibility → High elongation-at-break prevents the film from cracking under hull stress.

⚙️ Technical Properties

  • System: Two-part Epoxy (Resin A + Hardener B)

  • Hardener Type: Cycloaliphatic Amine

  • Solvent Content: 0% (Solvent-Free)

  • Adhesion: Excellent on Wood, GRP, and Degreased Metal

  • Water Resistance: Total Hydrophobic Barrier

  • Finish: Clear, high-gloss protective film

🛠️ How to Use

🔹 Application Instructions

  1. Preparation: Surfaces must be surgically clean, dry, and sanded. For osmosis treatment, the hull must be checked with a moisture meter before sealing.

  2. Mixing: Combine Component A and B strictly according to the weight/volume ratio on the label. Use the REX S-120 for precise catalyst measurement.

  3. Application: Apply by brush or roller. On porous wood, “wet-on-wet” coats are recommended until the substrate is fully saturated.

  4. Curing: Allow to cure in a dust-free environment. Do not apply if the temperature is below 10°C or relative humidity is above 80%.

👉 Pro Tip: When treating an old fiberglass hull for osmosis, after the “peeling” or sanding process, apply at least 3 to 5 coats of this impregnante to build a sufficient micron-thickness that water molecules cannot penetrate.

🛥️ Main Applications

  • Anti-Osmosis Treatment: Preventive or curative barrier for fiberglass hulls below the waterline.

  • Wooden Boat Restoration: Sealing plywood, mahogany, or oak to prevent moisture ingress.

  • Structural Consolidant: Repairing soft spots in wood or delaminated fiberglass sections.

  • Protective Coating: Waterproofing bilges, lockers, and internal structural components.

📦 Kit Content

  • Component A: High-purity Epoxy Resin

  • Component B: Specific Cycloaliphatic Catalyst

✅ Final Result

A fully waterproofed, structurally reinforced surface that is immune to rot and osmosis, significantly extending the lifespan of the vessel.
